PERSEVERANCE by Andy Moor
Based on: NASA crew clapping for the Perseverance Mars landing, February 18, 2021.
‘I began this project by searching online for applauses that either had some kind of great historical significance or just sounded good, when the news reached me of the upcoming landing of the space probe Perseverance on Mars. I thought if this turns out well the NASA crew will explode with joy and relief. I liked the idea of waiting for a future applause instead of mining one from history. Luckily the event turned out well and the tension in the control room was absolutely riveting, especially just before the landing when NASA ‘as expected’ lost contact with the craft due to the intense heat from entering Mars atmosphere.’
